The Advocate by Teresa Burrell

Blurb

For Sabre Orin Brown, life is good; she has it all...or would have, if only she could solve the mysterious disappearance of her brother. As a juvenile court attorney, she takes on a case defending a nine-year-old whose father will stop at nothing to gain custody.

In her search for answers, she finds herself immersed in a web of deceit and revenge that leads her across the country and five years into the past. Confronted with mysterious clues and strange occurrences, Sabre is in danger of losing everything--even her life--as her quest for the truth intensifies.

If you enjoy the suspenseful mysteries by John Grisham, you'll be captivated by this thrilling story of Sabre's search for justice.

Review

⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️/5

The book is the first in the Advocate series, and what a way to start it off. I did get slightly confused at the beginning thinking that Ron was her husband/boyfriend rather than brother and then that Bob was her boyfriend, but that was quickly resolved.

What I really enjoyed in this book was the amount of work Teresa Burrell put into the research, it was so meticulous and well done. Alexis was my favourite character in this book, what a tenacious little girl she was and I loved the way she was so caring towards Jamie and Sabre.

Teresa did an amazing job of making you doubt everything and everyone throughout the book, there were plenty of times that I believed we were going in one direction, before we veered off somewhere else. In a good way! My heart was in my mouth throughout the whole second half and I couldn't get through it quick enough to find out what happened.

The ending didn't feel rushed and it was a good outcome for everyone. This book made me feel so many different emotions, a real rollercoaster of a book and I am thrilled to be part of the tour. I am going to go and find the rest of the series so I can find out more about Sabre and her escapades in Juvenile Court.
